India Pakistan Ceasefire LIVE updates: All military bases and systems continue to remain fully operational and are ready to undertake any mission if the need arises, India said on Monday, two days after it entered into a ceasefire with Pakistan even as the neighbouring country violated the understanding hours later.

Addressing a press briefing, Air Marshal AK Bharti said Operation Sindoor that was launched in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack only ensured targeting of terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), and Islamabad was responsible for any losses incurred.

The remarks on the operation - that escalated bilateral tensions as it led to strikes and counter-strikes between the two nations - came hours before Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a public address at 8pm

Sources in the Army said it was "largely peaceful" in Jammu & Kashmir and other areas along the International Border (IB), which witnessed blackouts, and drone attacks and firing by the Pakistani forces last week, on Sunday night.

On Saturday, India and Pakistan reached an agreement to stop all firing and military action on land, air and sea, with effect from 5pm. Pakistan, however, violated the agreement within hours of it combining into effect.

Here are the latest updates on India-Pakistan ceasefire:

He highlighted that Mumbai's status as India's economic capital makes it a potential target, necessitating a review meeting with defence forces to assess the state's security preparedness and future planning.

"Our military has shown Pakistan its place. Pakistan's many airbases and terror hotbeds were destroyed. By now, they would have understood that they cannot fight with us in direct war, but we have seen in history that they have chosen proxy wars as well. Hence, the economic capital of Mumbai has become vulnerable, and hence we had the review meeting today regarding the preparations and further planning...," he said.

The PLAF also posted several screenshots of photos and words that shared the incorrect information, with each stamped with the red word "rumour".

"The internet is not beyond the law! Those who produce and spread military-related rumours will be held legally responsible!" the report added.

Adani Group-Owned Company's SkyStriker Drones Used In Operation Sindoor

SkyStriker kamikaze drones, co-developed with Adani Group's Aplha Design Technologies, were employed in Operation Sindoor, codename for military strikes against Pakistan in response to the Pahalgam terror attack.

The coordinates for the attacks, aimed at destroying terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan, were provided by intelligence agencies, and the strikes were carried out entirely from Indian soil, said Indian officials.

The SkyStriker flies like an unmanned aircraft system and strikes like a missile. It is classified as a loitering munition, a type of precision weapon that hovers over a target area to locate and strike targets, often autonomously or under human control, before being expended.

Asserting that the recent Pakistani shelling in Jammu & Kashmir created a "war-like situation", with Poonch district bearing the brunt of the attack, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said those who had left their homes can return as a military understanding between the two countries is in place now.

Mr Abdullah also dismissed the Pakistani military's ongoing propaganda, saying the neighbouring country will continue to push it, but the reality is known to the world.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Pakistan's Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), categorically denied that the man seen in the image was a terrorist. Instead, he was described as a religious leader and "a common family man."

The military spokesperson even presented what was claimed to be the individual's National Identity Card (CNIC), naming him as an official of the Pakistan Markazi Muslim League (PMML), specifically, its "Welfare Wing Incharge."

A Virat Kohli Mention In Indian Armed Forces' Operation Sindoor Briefing

"Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. If Lillee don't get you. Thommo must," the witty caption in an Australian daily on a cricket match between Australia and England in the 1970s found a mention in the Indian Armed Forces' latest briefing today on 'Operation Sindoor', which was launched against terror bases in Pakistan in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. During the briefing, Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Rajiv Ghai used the cricket analogy to stress that it was India's multi-layered counter-drone and air defence grid that acted as a shield against Pakistan air attacks.

Ace cricketer Virat Kohli, who announced his retirement from test cricket today, also figured in the briefing.

Lieutenant General Ghai said, "Targetting our airfields and logistics is way tough," mentioning the cricket proverb to emphasise his point.

"When I was in school, I believe in 1970s, there was the Ashes series between Australia and England. And at that time, two popular Australian bowlers, Jeff Thomson and Dennis Lillee, destroyed the batting lineup of England, and then Australia gave a proverb - "'Ashes to Ashes. Dust to dust. If Lillee don't get you. Thommo must...'".

The iconic lines were written for fast bowlers Jeff Thomson and Dennis Lillee, who tore through the English lineup.

"No Enemy Aircraft Was Allowed To...": Indian Navy On Operation Sindoor

No enemy aircraft was allowed to come within hundreds of kilometres of Indian territory during Pakistan's attempts to target the country's installations last week, Director General of Naval Operations, Vice Admiral A N Pramod, said on Monday.

The presence of the navy's aircraft carrier, with a large number of MiG-29K fighters and airborne early warning helicopters, prevented any suspicious or hostile aircraft from coming close to the "Carrier Battle Group", he added.

The Vice Admiral made the remarks at a joint press briefing on 'Operation Sindoor' that was launched by the armed forces to target terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) on the intervening night of May 7 and 8, in response to the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 tourists - 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen - on April 25.

India's retaliation prompted the forces to be on alert as Pakistan made three attempts to target military installations using drones and missiles in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat. The threats were swiftly neutralised, according to the Defence Ministry.

Indian Air Force Struck Karachi's Malir Cantt: Big Revelation On Operation Sindoor

The Air Force carried out strikes against targets near Karachi in Pakistan, Air Marshal AK Bharti, the Director-General of Operations for the IAF indicated in a special briefing Sunday evening.

Air Marshal Bharti said part of India's "measured and calibrated" response to Pak aggression - i.e., the drone and missile strikes, and small arms fire and artillery shelling across the border - was the targeting of military installations, including a surface-to-air missile site at Malir Cantonment in Karachi.

Malir Cantt. is a military base about 35km from the city of Karachi.

The Air Force also targeted a radar site in Lahore (likely the Chinese-made HQ-9 knocked by Israeli-made HARPY drones) and another close to Gujranwala in Pak's Punjab province, he said.

Pakistan Army Responsible For Their Losses, Our Fight Was Against Terrorists: India

Indian armed forces reiterated today that Operation Sindoor only targeted terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK), and that Islamabad was responsible for any loss that they incurred.

"Our fight was with terrorists and their infrastructure, and not Pakistan's military. That's why we struck only terror camps on May 7. It is a pity that Pakistan's military chose to side with terrorists and made it their own fight. That's why our retaliation was necessary. They are themselves responsible for their losses," Air Marshal AK Bharti said at a special media briefing this afternoon.

The senior officer of the Air Force said the country's air defence system stood like a wall protecting the country. "It was impenetrable for the enemy," he said, sharing details of the country's multi-layered air defence capabilities.

How Indian Armed Forces Are Maintaining Continuous Surveillance At Border

Vice Admiral AN Pramod said, "Effectively using multiple sensors and inputs, we are maintaining continuous surveillance to degrade or neutralise threats as they emerge or manifest to ensure targeting at extended ranges. All these are conducted under the umbrella of a comprehensive and effective layered fleet air defence mechanism that caters for all threats, be it drones, high-speed missiles or aircraft, both fighters as well as surveillance aircraft."

"Targeting Our Airfields, Logistics Way Too Tough": DGMO Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai

DGMO Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, during a key briefing today, said that targetting Indian airfields and logistics is "way too tough".

"I saw that Virat Kohli has just retired from test cricket, he is one of my favourites. In the 1970s, during the Ashes between Australia and England, two Australian bowlers destroyed the batting lineup of England, and then Australia gave a proverb - "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, if Thommo don't get ya, Lillee must". If you see the layers, you'll understand what I am trying to say. Even if you crossed all the layers, one of the layers of this grid system will hit you," he said.

Ceasefire After 4 Days: Inside Story Of How India-Pakistan Reached Agreement

After four days of precision missile strikes, drone incursions, and artillery battles across the Line of Control (LoC), India and Pakistan agreed to halt all military actions on land, air, and sea, with effect from the evening of May 10. Hours later, Pakistani drones were sighted and intercepted in various locations in Jammu and Kashmir, including Srinagar, and parts of Gujarat.

India said Pakistan has violated the ceasefire, adding that the armed forces were giving an "adequate and appropriate response". Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, in a press briefing, stressed that India takes "very, very serious notice of these violations."

These developments followed a sequence of escalating military exchanges since Friday morning. But what exactly unfolded?

India Fought Conflict With Pakistan As Aatmanirbhar: Top Defence Scientist Dr G Satheesh Reddy On NDTV

Dr G Satheesh Reddy, former chairperson of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), praised the indigenous systems used by the armed forces in Operation Sindoor - a targeted military strike on terror infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir to avenge the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. Mr Reddy, in an exclusive interview with NDTV, said that India fought the conflict with Pakistan as "aatmanirbhar" (self-reliant).

"For any nation, it is very important to be self-sufficient. If a nation develops the capabilities within itself, it will develop state-of-the-art technologies. Also, the enemy has no answers as the systems are only known to India. We fought with conflict with indigenous systems, being 'aatmanirbhar'," Mr Reddy said.

"Sometime back, we were saying the next conflict will be fought with an indigenous system, which has now become a reality. We are technologically advanced, people are proud of our technologies...I'm feeling very happy. I would like to congratulate the leadership of the country for the decisions taken. I would also like to congratulate the armed forces for the excellent operations carried out by them. Our nation is extremely happy," he added.

Visuals Of Pak Air Bases Hit By Indian Cruise Missiles

Open source intelligence (OSINT) experts and analysts have posted maps and visuals of what they claimed were damages to Pakistan's military infrastructure in cruise missile strikes by India.

Kawa Space shared a BDA (bomb damage assessment) image of a PAF base in Pakistan's Bholari that it claimed showed the results of precision strikes by an Indian ALCM (air-launched cruise missile). The impact is visible on a PAF (Pakistan Air Force) hangar, it said.

Damien Symon, who runs the handle detresfa_ on X and is considered one of the most credible OSINT experts, in a post on X showed the damage at Bholari air base.

"Imagery released by an Indian firm (KAWASPACE) spotlights damage at Pakistan's Bholari Airbase - the Indian Air Force strike appears to have severely damaged a hangar, debris visible along with structural damage, runway proximity = possible quick reaction role for the hangar (?)" Mr Symon said.

India, Pak Military Officials To Discuss Next Steps After Ceasefire Announcement

The military operations chiefs of India and Pakistan will discuss their next steps as a ceasefire returned calm to the border, and their equity markets edged higher.

This Anti-Drone System By DRDO Is Proved To Be A Nightmare For Pakistan

The indigenously developed Akash missile system was instrumental in neutralising missiles and drones and protecting cities in west India when Pakistan attacked.

The Akash system - a surface-to-air system designed to engage multiple targets simultaneously - was developed over 15 years by Dr Prahlada Ramarao, a former DRDO scientist.

"It is the happiest day of life... seeing my baby work so accurately and beautifully in shooting down incoming enemy aerial targets," an elated Dr Ramarao told NDTV. He said he had tears in his eyes when he saw "it worked beyond expectations... engaging incoming targets effectively".

Now 78 years old, he was the youngest Project Director for the Akash programme when he was handpicked by India's 'missile man' and former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.

On India Pakistan Ceasefire, Shashi Tharoor Says 'Let Me Be Blunt' About Donald Trump's Role

Congress MP and former diplomat Shashi Tharoor on Sunday weighed in on US President Donald Trump claiming credit for the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, suggesting it was "not mediation" but US efforts at playing a constructive role.

Trump had on Saturday evening claimed that the US had mediated between India and Pakistan, and the two neighbours had agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire. Within an hour, both countries officially announced the ceasefire.

Mr Tharoor called it a "very unfortunate way of proceeding", in a remark to NDTV hours after his party's former chief and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi underlined that Trump first announced the ceasefire in a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Read more here

There Will Be No Discussion With Pakistan On Kashmir: Sources

Pakistan should see uncertainty as the new normal and there will be no discussion with the country on Kashmir, sources said on Sunday. Responding to US President Donald Trump's post offering to "work with" India and Pakistan towards a solution on Kashmir, the sources said there is no change in New Delhi's stance that Kashmir is and will always be a bilateral issue between the countries.

Four days of hostilities, during which India carried out precision strikes on terrorist infrastructure and airbases in Pakistan and Islamabad attacked civilian and military sites with drones and missiles, culminated in a ceasefire on Saturday.

In a surprising move, the ceasefire was announced by Mr Trump on Saturday evening and then confirmed by India and Pakistan. New Delhi said the Pakistan Director General of Military Operations had called up his Indian counterpart and a ceasefire was agreed upon, which came into effect at 5pm on Saturday.

Life Returns To Normal In Rajasthan After India-Pakistan Ceasefire

Two days after India and Pakistan came to an understanding on the cessation of hostilities, life slowly returned to normal in the border villages. These villages, especially in Jammu and Kashmir, had borne the brunt of unprovoked firing from across the border.

Morning visuals from Barmer market showed shops open and people going about their day, with life returning to normal after recent tensions along the India-Pakistan border.

In Jaisalmer, a local resident said, "Everything is normal. The market is open, there are no issues during the day. Shops close around 7:30 pm. Our livelihood is not affected."

People in Barmer and Jaisalmer are relieved as daily life goes back to normal. Local businesses are running as usual, and residents hope the situation stays peaceful.

The tension had peaked early Saturday morning when a missile from Pakistan landed in an agricultural field in the Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan. Security forces successfully defused the missile without any casualties or damage to property.

India, Pakistan Top Military Officers Spoke Hours Before Ceasefire Announcement

A top military officer of Pakistan dialled India just before the ceasefire announcement came, after which the DGMOs of both nations spoke, the government said in a briefing.

The Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both sides spoke at 3.35 pm Saturday, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said.

An hour before the ceasefire announcement came, India said any future act of terror by Pakistan will be considered an act of war, and India will respond accordingly.

The warning was significant as Pakistan had been launching drone and missile attacks on military installations and civilian areas in northern India for the last three nights. Nearly all of them have been intercepted by the robust Indian air defence network.

"... Over the past few days Pakistan suffered heavy and unsustainable losses, after its unprovoked attack on Indian installations. There has been extensive damage to crucial Pakistani air bases like Skardu, Sargodha, Jacobabad and Bholari," Wing Commander Vyomika Singh said.

In an overnight attack last week, the Indian Armed Forces carried out the missile strikes on nine terrorist facilities - four in Pakistan (Bhawalpur, Muridke, Sarjal, and Mehmoona Joya), and five in PoK (Sawai Nala, Muzaffarabad, Syedna Bilal, Muzaffarabad, Gulpur, Kotli, Barnala, Bhimber, and Abbas, Kotli), they said.

"Pakistan Army Lost At Least 35-40 Personnel": Special Briefing On Operation Sindoor

The Pakistan Army reportedly lost nearly 35 to 40 personnel between May 7-10 in firing across the Line of Control, when India launched retaliatory counterstrikes responding to its aggression, said the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai at a special press briefing on Sunday.

"On the night of 8-9 May, they (Pakistan) flew drones and aircraft into our airspace all across the borders and made largely unsuccessful attempts to target numerous military infrastructure. Violations on the LoC by Pakistan also commenced yet again and precipitated into fierce engagements," said Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai.

"The Pakistan Army is reported to have lost approximately 35 to 40 personnel in artillery and small arms firing on the Line of Control between the 7th and the 10th of May. What the other side had probably also not reckoned with was the speedy and precise turnaround and hit-back by the Indian Air Force," the top officer added.

'Went For Head Of Snake': Sources On India's Strike On Pak Terror Bases

The Indian government has clarified, both for the world and Pakistan, that it went for the "snake's head and not foot soldiers" this time, demonstrating its new approach to kill terrorists within Pakistan.

India launched Operation Sindoor, a counterstrike in response to the deadly Pahalgam terror attack on tourists in which 26 people were killed in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, on May 7 against terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.

The Indian Armed Forces carried out coordinated precision missile strikes on nine terrorist facilities - four in Pakistan (including Bahawalpur and Muridke) and five in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (such as Muzaffarabad and Kotli).

"The message that has been sent is that no matter where you are in Pakistan, we will hit you. On this occasion, we have gone after the head of the snake and not foot soldiers," a source told NDTV.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that the Pahalgam attack has undone years of work both in terms of economy and diplomacy. It has given a jolt to the state's tourism -- which had recovered after a long time -- and allowed Pakistan to flag Kashmir in the international community again.

"We are in a place where We didn't expect to be. We are in a place where there has been Bloodshed suffering. Turmoil upheaval... Everything has changed. And yet in some ways nothing has," Mr Abdullah has told NDTV in an exclusive interview.

Asked how has the change translated, he said at this time of the year, "We should have been full with tourists, booming economy, children should have been at school, airports should have been functioning with 50-60 flights a day".

But now, the Valley is empty, schools had to be closed, the airport and airspace are closed.

"Yet when I say nothing has changed -- Pakistan has, by design, unfortunately again, managed to internationalise the question of Jammu and Kashmir," he said. "The US, which seems to be keen to inject itself in the role of a moderator, interlocutor," he added.

Line Of Control, Border Areas Witness First "Calm" Night In Days: Indian Army

The night remained "largely peaceful" across Jammu and Kashmir and other areas along the International Border, the Indian Army said this morning, less than two days after India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire.

India and Pakistan were involved in intense firing for four days as tensions simmered following a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam last month. The two countries agreed to a ceasefire on Saturday evening.

"The night remained largely peaceful across Jammu and Kashmir and other areas along the International Border. No incidents have been reported, marking the first calm night in recent days," the army sources told NDTV.

India and Pakistan reached an understanding to stop all firings and military actions on land, air and sea, with immediate effect from 5 pm on Saturday. However, hours later, drones were sighted and intercepted in various locations in Jammu and Kashmir, including Srinagar, and parts of Gujarat.
